Strong condemnation of Iranian strikes The ministerial meeting, which included representatives from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Türkiye and the UAE, condemned what they described as deliberate Iranian attacks using ballistic missiles and drones targeting civilian infrastructure. The statement specifically cited strikes on oil facilities, desalination plants, airports, housing complexes and diplomatic premises, emphasizing that such actions "cannot be justified under any circumstances." Demand for adherence to international law The joint statement affirmed the right of states to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter while calling on Tehran to respect international law and principles of good neighborliness. The ministers stressed that the future of relations with Iran depends on its commitment to respecting state sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and refraining from threats against neighboring countries. Call for compliance with UN resolution The participants urged Iran to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), cease all attacks immediately, and avoid actions threatening international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz or maritime security in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. The statement also reiterated support for Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, backing the Lebanese government's decision to ensure weapons remain solely in state hands. Dual condemnation and commitment to coordination While condemning Iranian attacks, the ministers also denounced Israeli strikes on Lebanon and what they described as Israel's expansionist policies in the region. The participants agreed to continue consultations and coordination to address developments and take necessary measures to protect their nations' security and sovereignty amid the ongoing conflict that began with the US-Israeli offensive on Iran Feb. 28.
