Bahrain's defense forces announced late Wednesday they have intercepted and destroyed a total of 366 Iranian projectiles since late February, as the kingdom continues to face what it describes as successive waves of attacks. The updated figures reveal the intensity of the aerial campaign targeting the Gulf state amid the widening regional conflict. Sustained air defense operations In a statement, the Bahrain Defense Force confirmed its air defense systems have successfully engaged 234 drones and 132 ballistic missiles launched from Iran since the escalation began. The military provided no details regarding casualties or damage from the ongoing attacks, maintaining operational security as the campaign continues. The kingdom has consistently activated its defensive systems to protect its territory and population centers. Regional conflict expands The attacks on Bahrain form part of Iran's broader retaliation against the joint US-Israeli offensive that began Feb. 28, which has killed approximately 1,300 people including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting American military assets, describing the campaign as targeting US forces and facilities. Some attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports and buildings across multiple nations. Gulf states in crossfire For Bahrain, home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, the sustained bombardment represents a direct challenge to its sovereignty and security. The kingdom's ability to consistently intercept incoming projectiles demonstrates the effectiveness of its air defense capabilities, though the frequency and scale of attacks continue to test its defensive posture. As the war enters its third week with no resolution in sight, Gulf states remain caught in the crossfire between Iran and the US-led coalition.
