Erdoğan offers mediation between Iran and US in call with Iranian president

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday to address bilateral relations and rising military tensions in the region. According to a statement from the Turkish Communications Directorate, the two leaders reviewed the state of Türkiye–Iran ties and the growing security risks resulting from recent regional escalation. During the call, Erdoğan emphasized that Türkiye is prepared to play a facilitating role between Iran and the United States to help lower tensions and contribute to the resolution of ongoing disputes. The statement also noted that Erdoğan informed Pezeshkian he would be receiving Iran’s foreign minister later on Friday in Ankara, underscoring continued high-level diplomatic engagement between the two neighbors.
