Explosive devices detonate in Lviv, killing police officer and injuring 25

At least one person was killed and 25 others injured in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv early Sunday following the detonation of explosive devices, according to official statements. The Ukrainian National Police reported that the incident began with a call about a break-in at a store around 12:30 a.m. local time, which escalated dramatically upon the arrival of law enforcement. Officer Killed in Attack on Responders In a detailed statement, the National Police explained that an explosion occurred after the first patrol crew reached the scene. "It was previously established that improvised explosive devices detonated. A 23-year-old policewoman died as a result of the explosions," the statement read. The danger persisted as a second patrol crew arriving at the location was met with another blast. In total, 25 individuals sustained injuries, with local officials noting that some victims are in serious condition. Investigation Launched as 'Terrorist Attack' Ukrainian authorities have formally defined the incident as a "terrorist attack." Criminal proceedings have been initiated under the country's Criminal Code, and a pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the regional anti-terrorism service. Lviv Governor Maksym Kozytskyi stated on Telegram that those responsible could face up to 12 years in prison and confiscation of property.
