Illegal Israeli settlers operating in the occupied West Bank have been documenting and boasting about their attacks on Palestinians in a WhatsApp group, according to media reports that have shed light on the organized nature of settler violence. The Times of Israel reported that members of a group chat named “News from Us” shared a detailed list of attacks carried out during the Hebrew calendar month of Adar, which concluded on Wednesday. The settlers claimed they had targeted the town of Mikhmas, northeast of occupied East Jerusalem, on five separate occasions within a single month, in addition to conducting three attacks in Masafer Yatta in the southern West Bank and raiding 26 Palestinian villages. The group’s messages detailed significant destruction and harm, boasting of injuring 37 Palestinians, setting fire to two mosques, and torching 16 homes and 19 vehicles. The leaked communications reveal not only the frequency of attacks but also a sense of impunity among those involved, who openly documented their actions in a semi-public forum. According to United Nations data, attacks by illegal Israeli settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have reached their highest level in the past 20 years since records began. Since Israel launched its military campaign in Gaza in October 2023, there has been a marked increase in arrests, raids, and violent incidents against Palestinians in both the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
