Iran announces death of four top commanders in US-Israeli strikes

Iran's military leadership suffered catastrophic losses in the US-Israeli strikes that began Saturday, with the armed forces confirming the deaths of four senior commanders during a Defense Council meeting. According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, the targeted meeting resulted in the killing of Iran's Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Commander Mohammad Pakpour, Defense Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani, and Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh. Hassanali Tajik, head of Logistics. Leadership decapitated Beyond the military command structure, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was also killed in Saturday's attacks, creating an unprecedented leadership vacuum in the Islamic Republic. Iranian authorities have declared a 40-day mourning period and established an interim Leadership Council comprising President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chief Justice Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i, and Guardian Council member Alireza Arafi until the Assembly of Experts can select a permanent successor.
