A senior Israeli military official announced Thursday that Israeli forces have carried out more than 6,000 airstrikes on 3,400 targets in Iran since the conflict began on Feb. 28. The staggering figures reveal the intensity of the aerial campaign that has now entered its 13th day, with Israeli aircraft conducting sustained bombing operations across Iranian territory. Scale of campaign The 6,000 airstrikes represent one of the most intensive bombing campaigns in recent Middle East history, averaging more than 460 strikes per day since hostilities began. The 3,400 targets struck include military installations, missile facilities, naval assets, and increasingly, energy infrastructure and industrial sites. The Israeli military has not provided a breakdown of target types or damage assessments. Joint operations The Israeli strikes are part of the broader "Operation Epic Fury," conducted jointly with US forces that have also carried out thousands of strikes. US Central Command has reported striking more than 5,000 Iranian targets and destroying over 50 naval vessels. The combined air campaign has overwhelmed Iranian air defenses and caused widespread destruction. Conflict toll According to Iranian authorities, more than 1,300 people have been killed in the US-Israeli strikes, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and dozens of senior military commanders. Over 17,000 have been injured, with infrastructure damage affecting power grids, fuel supplies and civilian areas. Iran has retaliated with approximately 3,200 missile and UAV attacks targeting Israel and Gulf states hosting US assets. Continuing operations Despite President Trump's declaration that the US has "won" the war, Israeli operations continue at high intensity. The official's announcement suggests no immediate letup in the campaign as the conflict expands to include Hezbollah engagements in Lebanon and ongoing retaliatory strikes across the Gulf region.
