Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum moved to reassure the nation Sunday following the killing of Jalisco New Generation Cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, "El Mencho," declaring "absolute coordination" with all state governments amid cartel retaliation. "There is absolute coordination with the governments of all states; we must remain informed and calm," Sheinbaum posted on social media, noting that "activities are proceeding normally throughout most of the country." Operation Details and Confirmation Mexico's Defense Ministry confirmed that Special Forces conducted the operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco, intending to apprehend Oseguera. Military personnel came under attack and responded in self-defense, resulting in four cartel members killed at the scene and three others fatally wounded during air evacuation to Mexico City. "Among the latter is Ruben 'N' (alias Mencho); however, the corresponding authorities will be in charge of the forensic activities to confirm his identification," the ministry stated.
