2026-02-26 - 22:42

MKE Ankaragucu, a club playing in Türkiye’s TFF 2. Lig, has carried out iftar distributions in Gaza during Ramadan, expanding its humanitarian outreach beyond the football field. The club shared footage on its official social media accounts showing volunteers delivering meal packages to 1,500 children in the Palestinian enclave. Ramadan solidarity from Türkiye In its statement, Ankaragucu emphasized that the campaign seeks to ensure children facing hardship in Palestine and other regions feel supported during the holy month. The club called on supporters to increase participation and humanitarian backing, framing the initiative as part of a broader social responsibility mission. Turkish football fans have also demonstrated solidarity in stadiums, displaying Palestinian flags and banners during domestic league matches. Humanitarian efforts amid ceasefire The aid drive comes as the World Food Programme reported that monthly food deliveries to Gaza have more than doubled since the implementation of a ceasefire. According to the UN agency, improved access as of late February 2026 has enabled coordinated distribution of food parcels, hot iftar meals, fresh bread and cash assistance. Amid winter conditions and continued displacement, approximately one million people are receiving comprehensive support packages. The developments highlight the combination of civil society initiatives from Türkiye and international humanitarian operations seeking to address urgent needs in Gaza during Ramadan.
