Türkiye’s premier defense systems manufacturer, Roketsan, has launched a new indigenous high-speed glide munition named Eren. The weapon was publicly revealed for the first time at the World Defense Show (WDS) 2026, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the company exhibited its extensive portfolio of missile and rocket systems. Rapid Development and Multi-Platform Launch According to the company, the Eren munition was developed from concept to operational product in under a year and has already undergone testing aboard the Bayraktar Akinci unmanned combat aerial vehicle. Designed for versatility, Eren can be deployed from a wide array of platforms including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, ground vehicles, naval assets, and fixed ground-based systems. It is engineered to engage both aerial targets, such as low-speed aircraft, and various ground targets, whether armored or unarmored. Enhanced Strike Capability and Advanced Technology Roketsan CEO Murat Ikinci stated the objective was to create a cost-effective munition for air-to-ground, ground-to-ground, and ground-to-air roles. "The Eren munition will significantly enhance the striking power of our UAVs and enable highly effective engagements from ground-based platforms," Ikinci explained. He highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence algorithms and advanced flight control sensors, coupled with a turbojet engine, as key technologies enabling new operational capabilities. The munition boasts an operational range exceeding 100 kilometers. Future Integration and Production Plans Integration efforts are currently underway to equip unmanned ground vehicles, armored platforms, and close air defense systems with the Eren munition, with potential future adaptation for aircraft. Roketsan confirms that mass production is expected to commence within the year, aiming to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and allied nations.
