Serbian president hails Erdoğan as 'great world leader' after Ankara talks

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic delivered effusive praise for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following their meeting in Ankara, characterizing him as "a great world leader" and Türkiye as among Belgrade's most significant strategic partners. In a social media post after concluding his one-day visit, Vucic described the talks as "exceptionally productive on all issues" and expressed gratitude for what he termed "exceptional hospitality." Deepening Bilateral Partnership Vucic emphasized Serbia's recognition of Türkiye's political and economic importance, affirming Ankara's position as one of his country's most crucial partners. The Serbian leader extended an invitation for Erdoğan to visit Serbia within the coming three to four months, suggesting several important documents could be signed during such a visit. Erdoğan confirmed he plans to travel to Belgrade and Novi Pazar in May or June accompanied by a large delegation, signaling deepening engagement between the two nations. Regional Peace Platform and Strategic Dialogue During their meeting at the Presidential Palace, Erdoğan highlighted Türkiye's initiatives promoting regional ownership-based cooperation, citing the second Balkan Peace Platform meeting hosted in Istanbul on Jan. 23. He thanked Vucic for personal support of the platform and described the Serbian president's visit as highly valuable for advancing peace, stability, and prosperity across the Balkans. The comprehensive Serbian delegation included Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic, Economy Minister Adrijana Mesarovic, and other senior officials, underscoring the multifaceted nature of bilateral discussions.
