Türkiye and Azerbaijan sign media cooperation pact at STRATCOM summit

Türkiye’s Communications Directorate and Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency formalized a memorandum of understanding on Friday during the International Strategic Communication Summit (STRATCOM) 2026 in Istanbul. The agreement was signed by Communications Director Burhanettin Duran and Ahmad Ismayilov, chairman of Azerbaijan’s Media Development Agency, according to a statement from the directorate. Joint platform to enhance strategic cooperation The memorandum aims to deepen existing collaboration between the two brotherly nations across several key areas, including digital and social media, audiovisual media, strategic communication, and crisis management. As part of the agreement, the parties will establish a joint working commission and permanent committees within the Türkiye-Azerbaijan Joint Media Platform. The platform is designed to strengthen media integration between the two countries, ensure accurate public information, and coordinate efforts to counter disinformation. Brotherly ties reinforced through media partnership The signing underscores the deepening strategic partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, which have long maintained close political, economic, and cultural ties. The agreement reflects both nations’ commitment to enhancing cooperation in the information space, particularly in an era of growing challenges related to digital communication and misinformation.
