Türkiye, Hamas discuss Israeli attacks, Gaza ceasefire in Istanbul meeting

Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT) head İbrahim Kalın held a meeting Sunday in Istanbul with members of Hamas’s Political Bureau to address ongoing Israeli attacks in Palestine and developments regarding the Gaza ceasefire. The talks reaffirmed Ankara’s active engagement in efforts to stabilize the region. Unity against destabilization According to Turkish security sources, the meeting focused on the importance of unity in confronting Israel’s occupation policies and destabilization efforts, particularly in Jerusalem, which are aimed at inflaming the wider region. Participants stressed that no fait accompli would be accepted, underscoring their determination to resist unilateral actions that undermine Palestinian rights and regional stability. Ceasefire implementation reviewed The discussions included a detailed assessment of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Priority was given to halting attacks and ensuring the uninterrupted entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza. The participants emphasized that Israel must immediately fulfill its obligations from the first phase of the agreement, warning against delays or violations that could reignite hostilities. Settler violence and West Bank repression addressed The meeting also addressed the recent escalation of illegal settler violence and settlement activities in the West Bank, alongside the repression of Palestinians by Israeli security forces. The Hamas delegation expressed gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Türkiye’s sustained efforts in pursuing peace in Gaza. Turkish sources confirmed that Ankara will continue to intensify its diplomatic initiatives to achieve lasting peace in the region.
