Türkiye's tourism revenue climbs 6.8% to $65.2 billion in 2025, visitor spending exceeds $1,000 on average

Türkiye’s tourism sector showed strong growth in 2025, with total revenue rising 6.8% year-on-year to $65.23 billion, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) on Friday. The number of visitors increased by 2.7% to 63.92 million, while average spending per visitor grew 3.7% to $1,008. Average daily expenditure stood at $100. Spending Composition and Visitor Profiles Package tours accounted for the largest share of tourism income at 28.2%, followed by food and beverage spending (21.1%) and international transportation (12.8%). The majority of visitors—67.7%—came for travel, entertainment, sports, and cultural activities. Visiting relatives and friends was the second most common purpose (19.6%), followed by shopping (5.9%). Outbound Tourism and Policy Impact While inbound tourism revenue grew, Türkiye’s outbound tourism expenditures also rose significantly, increasing 24% to $9.6 billion in 2025. The number of Turkish citizens traveling abroad increased by 4.4% to 11.9 million. Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek noted that tourism revenues exceeded the medium-term economic program target, attributing the positive performance to policies aimed at extending tourism across all seasons and regions, which helped raise per capita spending above $1,000.
