Türkiye and Syria have agreed to establish a permanent, round-the-clock communication coordination mechanism following talks in Damascus between senior Turkish officials and Syrian Information Minister Hamza Mustafa. Turkish Presidential Communications Deputy Director Ferhat Pirincci confirmed the decision, describing the visit as a significant step in bilateral institutional cooperation. Combating Disinformation Together Ambassador to Damascus Nuh Yilmaz, who led the delegation alongside Presidency of Communications officials, emphasized that Syria has endured intense disinformation campaigns during its critical post-conflict transition—particularly regarding operations against the PKK terrorist organization and developments in the coastal region and Sweida. Yilmaz noted that Türkiye, having confronted similar campaigns for years, has developed substantial expertise and capacity that it is now positioned to share with Syrian counterparts. Institutional Bridge and Capacity Building Pirincci stated that the mechanism will function as a continuous institutional bridge, enabling regular communication, joint training programs, and mutual exchange of experience. Priority areas include combating disinformation, media perception management, public diplomacy, and crisis communication. The initiative formalizes growing bilateral coordination following the fall of the Assad regime and reflects both countries' shared interest in countering narratives that undermine regional stability.
