Turkish defense giant Aselsan secures NATO contract for IFF systems on man-portable air defenses

Turkish defense contractor Aselsan announced on Monday that it has secured a significant contract from NATO to provide advanced identification systems for the alliance’s air defense capabilities. The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) awarded the company a framework agreement to supply “Identification of Friend or Foe” (IFF) Interrogator Systems designed for integration with Man-Portable Air Defense Systems (MANPADS). A Key NATO Supplier in Advanced IFF Technology The three-year contract enables the supply of these systems throughout the period, supporting NATO’s mission to enhance deterrence against evolving aerial threats globally. Aselsan stated that, as a long-standing IFF provider across all domains and one of the few global suppliers of advanced Mode-5 IFF systems, it takes pride in offering its services and technical support to the alliance. A Milestone for Turkish Defense Industry Headquartered in Ankara and founded in 1975, Aselsan has grown into one of Türkiye’s largest defense firms and ranks among the world’s top 50 defense companies. The company recently became the first Turkish firm to reach a market valuation of $30 billion, underscoring its growing stature in the global defense sector.
